A SOUL: In Profile!
by Ian Joakin

Uh! A thing of beauty! Most of us would recognize a beautiful body when we see one. We'd even agree beauty comes in many shapes and sizes.

Beauty affects us in strange and peculiar ways. Many of us are able to look ourselves in the mirror and say, "Self, I saw a beautiful body today. Oh, what wouldn't I do to have one?"

Between the two of us, frankly, we don't want to hear the answer; we'd just rather that mirror say, "You ain't half-bad, gorgeous. I'm seeing a thing of beauty. And you know what they say."

"A thing of beauty is a joy forever."

Okay, a few of you don't look at flesh. Looking is sin. It's vain. One gaak and you'll drop into hell. Don't look! And don't wish either. God made ugly too.

Here is the question ... you can open your eyes now. Go ahead. Open. Can you recognize a beautiful soul? Yours, for instance? What does a beautiful soul look like?

Well, that's exactly what you and I are here to find out.

Wait, wait! Come back. Why are you running away? I didn't mean to scare you. You don't have to die to find the answer. Really. Do you? I'm kidding ... I'm kidding. God is not the Zapper; I promise.

Phewwy! That was close. (Of course, my fingers are crossed. And I'm wearing a rubber helmet.)

Here's what we're going to do. You're still shaking? Relax. Relax. God is OK. You're OK. I'll have an extra chat with God tonight.

First, you get to tell us what a beautful soul looks like; what it feels like; how it affects you, etc., etc., etc.

And we get to peek. Wouldn't that be fun? (Phewy. This one is spooked.)

Yes, poetry is good. Paintings are good. Ooh-la-laz are good. You can break out in song if you want; we don't have to hear you. Just stay on point. Deal?
